Responsibilities of the Enterprise Architect: McLane Advanced Technologies is seeking a highly experienced Enterprise Architect to lead the design, modernization, and governance of the U.S. Army’s Total Ammunition Management Information System (TAMIS) in the National Capital Region (NCR). The Enterprise Architect will provide technical vision, develop enterprise-wide architecture strategies, and ensure TAMIS aligns with Army and DoD requirements for security, scalability, and interoperability.
The Enterprise Architect will:
Develop and maintain the TAMIS enterprise architecture roadmap, aligning AWS GovCloud infrastructure, software stacks (.NET/AngularJS), and data integrations with Army G-37/TRA objectives and IT directives.
Design and document holistic system architectures encompassing application, data, security, and infrastructure layers, using frameworks such as DoDAF 2.0 and TOGAF.
Lead migration and modernization initiatives from legacy Army systems (e.g., SAAS, GCSS-A) to secure, cloud-native solutions, maintaining high availability for global users.
Plan and implement comprehensive network and system security measures, including firewall configurations, cryptographic solutions, host security, file system integrity, and user access control.
Architect high-availability and disaster recovery solutions for TAMIS, incorporating load balancing and zero-trust security principles.
Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure IL4-compliant architecture, automated STIG enforcement, and security best practices in cloud environments.
Optimize cross-system data flows between TAMIS, NLAC, and Army logistics tools using REST APIs, message queues, and canonical data models.
Serve as subject matter expert (SME) on GovCloud, virtualization, Windows/Linux OS, MS SQL Server, and NIPRNET/Internet connectivity, providing technical leadership and troubleshooting with external entities (DISA GCDS, ARCYBER, CSSPs, Akamai, CSPs).
Mentor technical teams on DevSecOps practices, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation), and Army-specific implementation constraints.
Support ATO renewals by providing architecture artifacts for DIACAP/RMF packages and addressing technical findings from Army CERT/CCSR reviews.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related IT field (Master’s preferred); 15+ years of IT experience with at least 10 years as a subject matter expert in Army/DoD environments.
Demonstrated expertise in AWS GovCloud, virtualization, Windows and Linux OSs, MS SQL Server, and NIPRNET/Internet connectivity.
Experience interfacing and troubleshooting with DISA GCDS, ARCYBER, CSSPs, Akamai, CSPs, and other external entities for Army cloud operations.
Authoritative knowledge of Army cybersecurity frameworks (RMF, FISMA, AR 25-1/25-2), DoDAF graphical/textual/tabular products, and architecture modeling tools (MS Visio, Sparx EA).
Professional certifications: CISSP, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, and TOGAF 9 required.
Proven track record modernizing .NET/SQL Server applications to AWS GovCloud, implementing secure, scalable, and resilient solutions.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills; adept at multitasking in dynamic environments.
Exceptional communication skills, able to interact with stakeholders and present complex technical concepts clearly.
Customer-centric approach, executing tasks based on management directives aligned with customer requirements.
Active Secret Security Clearance required; TS/SCI preferred.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, including to potentially hostile locations.
